CPL and WiFi extenders from Orange.
There is a WiFi extender you can buy from Orange the cheaper ones use 85 mbps CPL technology. The chances of success is distance related - my recommendation is do not buy the 85 mpbs technology the distance is not that great. The 200 mbps kit by Devolo I have used to great success where I could not put CAT5 cable.
 

Ubuntu Support Services

As a part of our service portfolio Wireless and Web will be supporting the Ubuntu operating system along with Mac and Windows platforms. Ubuntu has Linux at its core and has been used as the platform of choice for day to day operations by Wireless and Web since inception. Having exposed all of our existing clients to Ubuntu, curiosity has grown into early adoption with some clients, and the reaction tends to be of surprise at how easy it is to use.

Of course, as with all new things, there is a learning curve, but it is no worse than the enforced ones from certain vendors as they upgrade to their latest and greatest release. Wireless and Web is here to provide support in transitioning to this platform, in training, planning and implementation.

We are pleased to announce that Ubuntu has been added to the support package; it certainly makes our job easier :).

 

 
 
New web site framwork

I have started to use a framework called jquery for a number of my sites. The advantage is an easy way to get a consistent look and feel to the site with many effects, good for graphic based sites. Some of the latest ones using this technology are:

The main advantage being the reduced time to deploy, the lag is as always collating the information.

Orange Livebox support
I have found a large % of my call outs for Internet connectivity for the Orange Live box here on the Cote d'Azur is to do with lack of WiFi connectivity. Symptoms is that you can see the SSID but can not connect even after putting in the WEP key. On the bottom of the Livebox is a WiFi button. The first time you connect via WiFi this needs to be pressed so a pairing can take place. After that you should be good to go.
